Clearview News: The town of Clearview is scheduling a town clean up day for Saturday, May 7 beginning at 10:00 a.m. The city officials are asking everyone owning property to join in to clean your lots and roadways and to clean the cemetery. Please continue your prayers for those on our sick list: Clifford Normore of Wichita, Kansas, Billy Walker, L.C. Carson, Sharon Patton, Dorothy Loggins, Bobby Joe Forshee, Marjorie Plunkett, Ethelene Scott, Kurrilue Johnson, and Johnny West.

1868: The first Memorial Day is declared. General John A. Logan, the commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, an organization of Civil War Veterans, issued a proclamation declaring May 5 to be “Decoration Day.” The holiday spread through the Northern states and was adopted as a national holiday in 1968.

This Sunday is Mother’s Day. A very special time for many of us who have such special memories of our very special mothers. When I was a child, my mom was the person I ran to when I was in pain or hurting. Or when I was worried about God and other celestial matters, you can be sure I ran to her for advice. She was my first advisor after I learned I needed to give my life to Jesus. She never gave me any bad advice in these matters.

Dustin News

The Dustin Activities Committee would like to publicly thank all the volunteers that participated in our “Great American Trash-Off” that was held Saturday April 30 . This was the greatest turnout in the last four years with 29 volunteers and 34 bags of trash collected within two hours’ time. Everyone enjoyed a great luncheon afterwards that was provided by the committee members. We just wanted to say a Big “Thank You” to all who made this event a great success!! The Supreme Court’s McGirt Dilemma

Count on Justice Samuel Alito to subtly elbow an errant colleague from across the mahogany bench. On Wednesday the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Oklahoma v. Castro-Huerta. The state of Oklahoma wants the Justices to say it has inherent sovereign power to prosecute non-Native Americans who harm Natives within reservation boundaries.
