Billy Dean Price Passes Away

Billy Dean Price was born September 21, 1936, in Okfuskee County to Willie Thomas Price and Flossie Mae (Bowden) Price and passed from this life October 11, 2024, in Tulsa at the age of 88.

Billy Dean was raised in the Wetumka area and was a 1955 graduate of Wetumka High School. The following year he married Wanda Burkes, and they made Wetumka their lifelong home. Billy Dean and Wanda were married for 68 years.

After working a few

years in the oil fields on drilling rigs he became employed by the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company as a welder and operator until his retirement. Along with working for the gas company he also followed his passion of farming and ranching and running his bulldozer.

Billy Dean loved music, especially western swing. Many remember the sessions he would host at his home with musicians coming from all around to just sit and play music. Often it would attract more than 50 people.

He was a longtime member of the First Christian Church until it’s closing. Most recently he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wetumka.

He was preceded in death by an infant son Ronald Dean Price.

Survivors include: His wife Wanda of the home; 2 children, Teresa Chastain and husband Allen of Granbury, TX and Jimmy Price and wife Stephanie of Carthage, TX; along with

five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Viewing and visitation was held Sunday, October 13, from noon to 8:00 PM. A graveside service was held Monday, October 14 at 11:00 AM at Wetumka Cemetery. Williamson- Spradlin Funeral Home of Wetumka was in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers

the family prefers memorials be sent to War Dogs.
