Bobby Dale Winters, a 1952 graduate and outstanding football player at Holdenville High School, passed away September 9, 2021 in Alamo, TX. Bob lived a wonderful 87 years full of family, friends, and traveled to all 50 states. He was born November 29, 1933 in McAlester, OK, the 6th child of Audif Jackson and Jimmy Irene (Smith) Winters.

Bob was a proud graduate of Holdenville High School where he was active in sports and a number of activities. Upon graduation Bob joined the Marines where he proudly served during the Korean War. After his service to his country, he took advantage of the GI Bill to attend and graduate from Central Oklahoma College. There he met his future wife, Eva Louise Steincamp, whom he married on August 30, 1958.

Together they started their family, having a daughter, Carisa, and two sons, Jeff and Craig. Bob owned a gas station in El Reno, OK before going to work for Continental Oil Co. looking for gas and oil sites in the Midwest. Deciding that being home with his young family was more important he returned to college to become a teacher and obtained his Masters from OSU.

Bob taught at Harrah High School until retirement in 1992. Shortly upon retirement, Eva succumbed to heart disease and Bob relocated to Alamo, TX. In Alamo, he met Martha Graeber and the two were married in 6-4-2003. Together they shared many adventures and traveled coast to coast and border to border.

Bob is preceded in death by his wife Eva and daughter Carisa. He is survived by his wife, Martha of Alamo, TX, His son Jeff and wife Jane of Harrah, OK and his son, Craig and wife, Shelley of Stillwater, OK. He is also survived by six incredible grandchildren, Jayma (husband Darin), Jordan, (husband Andrew), Jake, Josh, Bailey and Brenden, and by one great-grandson, Colin. He is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Bob loved to golf, watching westerns and sports on TV and to fish but mostly he loved to gather around friends and tell stories. We will miss him.

Dad

The backbone of the family,

Holding us tall and strong.

Yet when he gave up his place

To his children, he did not weaken

Just showed us how to pass the baton with pride.
