Bruce V. Roberts
Bruce V. Roberts was born January 5, 1949 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Bill Roberts and Dottie (Stringfellow) Roberts. He grew up in Holdenville where he graduated high school in 1967.
Bruce attended ECU one year and spent six years in the National Guard as a SPS-E5.
Bruce worked many jobs over the years. He started out as a paperboy, he had a mud business, worked at Flemmings until his dad became ill and he came back home and ran his dad’s Borden Milk Franchise until Bill was able to return. He worked in natural gas until he retired in 2017.
Bruce married Vicky Kelly in 1993; they made their home in Holdenville and raised their two daughters. Bruce loved to hunt for Indian artifacts, he and his dad had a large collection. He loved hunting Morel mushrooms, camping, gardening and sports. Bruce was a people person, he never met a stranger and had many friends. You knew who the oldest friends were because they called him Free Beer. Vicky referred to Bruce as Helpie, short for Helpie Helperton, he always thought his way was the best way. He lovingly referred to her as Queen. Bruce was a Christian, the best husband partner, friend and dad. He loved his family dearly.
Bruce is survived by his wife Vicky; his two daughters, Kristen Morris and husband Derrek, and Whitney Tucker and husband Frankie; the people he loved more than life, his grandchildren, Austin Tucker, Jayla Nunes, Brody Tucker, Gauge Nunes, Channing Tucker, Daxten Morris, Hattie Morris, Destin Tucker, Sutton Morris, and Grayson Morris; sisters Patty Estep and husband John, Billye Lee and husband Chuck, and Christie Barker.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Bill Roberts, Dottie Roberts and Dorthy Ann VanMeter.
Funeral service was 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 31st, at First Indian Baptist Church, Holdenville, with Pastor Maurice Morgan and Pastor Jimmy Jett officiating.
Interment followed at Holdenville Cemetery.
Services were under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville.
