Claire Ann Edwards
Claire Ann Edwards passed away Friday, December 3, 2021, in Holdenville, Oklahoma at the age of 81.
Claire was born December 6, 1939 in Hooker, Oklahoma to Dean Hatfield and Ella (Herbel) Hatfield. Claire graduated from Borger Public School in Texas. She married Murel Edwards on March 6, 1959 in Borger, Texas. Claire worked for the Panhandle Community Service and was the HUD Housing Coordinator.
She was most noted for her infectious smile, laughter, and ability to instantly make friends. She loved camping with her family, playing Bunko, and listening to music, especially gospel. She loved playing the piano and organ and even enjoyed motorcycle riding and fishing. She was an avid reader especially ALL Louis L’Amour westerns. Claire Ann also enjoyed attending church at Calvin’s First Baptist Church and teaching Sunday school for the little believers. And her most passionate pastime was spending time with family and friends.
Claire is preceded in death by her parents, and daughter Maria Van Edwards.
She is survived by her husband Murel Edwards of the home; daughter Teresa M. Mills and husband Jim of Gladewater, Texas; son John D. Edwards and wife Mary Ann of Alexandria, Virginia; grandchildren Ryan A. Mills and wife Tiffani of Gladewater, Texas, Ross A. Mills and wife Gabby of Gladewater, Texas, Kylee E. Edwards of Alexandria, Virginia, and Sydney V. Edwards of Fairmont, West Virginia; seven great-grandchildren Caitlyn, Layne, Kastyn, Nolan, Kohen, Kate, and Brayson; siblings Deana Goznell and partner Tom Smith of Farmington, New Mexico, Gary B. Hatfield and wife Jenny of Boerne, Texas, and Jo Ellen Mc-Cracken and husband Mike of Windsor, Colorado. Claire is survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 8 th , at Calvin First Baptist Church in Calvin, Oklahoma with Pastor Kurtis Stoll officiating. Interment will follow at Calvin Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robbie Jones, Dillon Barnhart, Ryan Mills, Ross Mills, James Mills and Eric Cochran. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Chapman, Lloyd Howard, James Simmons and Sam McClure.
Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
