Coy Morris West, 83, of Ada, Oklahoma passed away Friday, January 27, 2023 in Ada, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 3, 2023 at Richmond Avenue Free Will Baptist Church in Allen, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Atwood Cemetery in Atwood, Oklahoma.
Coy Morris West, Sr. was born October 19, 1939, in Atwood, Oklahoma to Charles Henry and Flora Edith Parks West. He grew up in Atwood where he attended school for 12 years. He began his career as a mechanic in 1958 and worked as a mechanic until 1991. He worked for himself and various car dealerships in Holdenville, Ada, Oklahoma City, Shafter and Bakersfield, California, and also Seattle, Washington. In 1991, he began working for the City of Allen as Park Superintendent and Cemetery Superintendent. He also served in Oklahoma National Guard for 19 years.
Coy was an excellent woodworker and carpenter, building cabinets, bookcases for his children, himself, and others as well as helping remodel houses. Coy was very active with his children during their formative years. During the summer he coached baseball for youth leagues from second grade to high school as well as mentor. He was always active in his church and community.
On March 29, 1958 he married the love of his life Tropa Mae Moore. Coy and Tropa had four children. Janet Elaine; Coy Morris, Jr; Connie Denise and Carlous Wesley.
Preceding him in death was his wife Tropa Mae; his parents, Charles and Flora Edith West; two half-brothers N. B. Freeland, and Carl Henry West; two grandsons, Michael Owen Pollard and Gideon Issac Frederick.
He is survived by daughter, Elaine (David) Rhynes, Ada, Ok; son, Coy, Jr (Susan) of Trophy Club, Texas; daughter Connie (Bob) Frederick of Ada; son, Carlous (Becky) of Ada. Also, his companion Sallie Brown Stafford of Holdenville; his brother, Harold (Karol) of Ada. Grandchildren: Lesley McClarty of Norman; Emily (Mark) Zoellner of Grapevine, Texas; Abby West of Los Angeles, California; Lizzy West of Washington, D.C; Rob (Megan) Frederick of Broken Arrow, Ok; Scott (Nicole) Frederick of Manassas, Virginia; Keegan West of Ada, and Kaylan West of Ada. Great grandchildren: Logan and Bailee Pollard; Jaymin McClarty, Brayden Mc-Clarty and Alexa Kate McClarty; Lucas Zoellner and Elliott Zoellner; Allison, Gwyneth, Warren, Scarlett, and Jessie Frederick; Ezra Frederick and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Frank Grif- fith, Jimmy Nix, Dean Goforth, Doug Stinson, Tom Farrell and Logan Pollard. Honorary pallbearer is Steve Dobbins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 3rd, 2023 at Richmond Avenue Free Will Baptist Church in Allen, Oklahoma.
Interment will follow at Atwood Cemetery in Atwood, Oklahoma.
