Dr. Rory Gene Stricklin
Our Sympathies extended to the families of... Dr. Rory Gene Stricklin passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, in Wagoner, Oklahoma. He was born on November 16, 1978 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Rory grew up on his parents’ dairy farm milking cows and living the farm life. He attended school at Prague Public Schools where he was a valedictorian, all state in football, and an American Farmer through FFA. He attended undergraduate and veterinarian school at Oklahoma State University.
He started his career at Shawnee Animal Hospital and later opened his dream practice, Wewoka Animal Hospital, with the love of his life, Jamie, in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Rory served many years to Wewoka and surrounding communities; being renowned for helping sick animals and volunteering time in multiple areas including the surrounding high school FFA programs. Rory helped whoever needed it. He did not even care if he knew them; that was just Rory. Most importantly, Rory lived for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Jamie Smart Stricklin of Wewoka; his two children, whom he loved dearly, Dawson Dewayne, age 3, and Charlie Blake, age 2; his parents Randy and Mary Stricklin of Prague; his mother-in-law Paula and husband Jim Daniel of Wewoka; his father-in-law Jim and wife Vicky Smart of Shawnee; his grandmother, Mary Francis Buchanan of Prague; his sister Rachel and husband Josh Thomas of Prague; sister Mandy and husband Tyler Rolette of Prague; sister-in-law Jennifer and husband Daniel Swift of Wewoka; sister-in-law Jill and husband Dylan Ramsey of Stillwater; brother-in-law Jack Smart of Shawnee; sister-in-law Kayla and husband Dr. Sean Summers of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law Lindsey Goodnight of Oklahoma City; great-aunt Georgia Call of Bartlesville; great-aunt Christine and husband Jack Mulanax of Greenville, Texas; uncle Joe and wife Nancy Stricklin of Prague; uncle Dr. David and wife Dr. Anna Good of Wagoner; uncle Dr. Zane and wife Janet DeLaughter o f McAlester; aunt Bonnie and husband Gary Friend of Meeker; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and the entire WAH family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Vernon and Mildred Stricklin of Prague; grandfather Carl Good of Prague; and uncle Benton Stricklin of Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, the family has established a college fund for Dawson and Charlie through Security State Bank. You may make a donation at any location to “Rory and Jamie Stricklin Children College Fund of Dawson and Charlie Stricklin.”
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 14th , at the First Baptist Church in Wewoka with Pastor Matt Raines officiating, assisted by Nathan Brumley.
