Ellen Carrol Black, first known as Ellen Shannon, was born on February 7, 1948, in a home in Rentie Settlement, Oklahoma to parents Landers and Lydia (Lillie) Shannon.

She grew up in Clearview, Oklahoma, and graduated from Weleetka High School.

Eleeen went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in psychology from East Central Univiersity in Ada, Oklahoma.

After graduating she spent a few years teaching at a local Vo-Tech.

In 1979, Ellen relocated her family to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She worked as a Pharmacy Technician for over 25 years and retired at the age of sixty-six. Ellen enjoyed cooking, sewing, listening to music, reading books, and spending time with her loved ones.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents Landers and Lydia Shannon, brothers Leonard (LC) Shannon, Landers Shannon, Jr., Wille (Bubba) Shannon, Wayne (Pap) Shannon Sr, and sister Martha Bell.

Ellen leaves to cherish her memory four children, Charles Ray Black Jr., Christopher Black, Aliceson Black, and Curwin Black; six grandchildren, JaQue’ Boyd, Ashlee Boyd, Chriestopher Black Jr., Alyssa Hamilton, Christian Black, and Christian Pollar-Black; one great-grandson Deon Dow; Brother Walter (Bully) Shannon; sister Lorene (Tucker) Bird, and Myrtle (Tiny) Guillory, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving family, and friends.
