Jon C. Meadors
Jon C. Meadors, 84, was born April 1, 1937 in Wetumka, OK to John Cecil and Thelma Meadors. He went home to be with his Lord July 10, 2021 at his home with his four children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at his side.
Jon grew up in Wetumka, OK graduating from Wetumka High School in 1955. Throughout his life Jon worked several jobs including helping at the Meadors Family Laundry, Woody’s Grocery Store, and Ozarka Water Co. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base as a parts distributor. Following retirement, Jon and his wife, June, ran Jon & June’s Bingo Bus to Thunderbird Bingo for several years.
In June of 1958 Jon married his “Winnie”, Winifred June Snell of Weleetka, OK. During their 45 years of marriage they had four children: Dorothy, Susie, Gayla, and Mark.
Jon loved sports. He enjoyed watching sports, listening to “The Sports Animal”, and talking sports. He especially loved coaching and watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Jon also enjoyed reading. He would read the daily paper cover to cover every day. Another favorite pastime was sitting on the porch. He spent many hours enjoying the sun-shine and the rain on “his porch”.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents, his wife June, granddaughter Kelly Brooks Hiatt, and sisters Edith Le Bus and Willie Wine.
Jon is survived by his spouse Doris; children Dorothy Ellis Johnston of Miami, OK, Susie and Randy Osborn of Wetumka, OK, Gayla and Tommy Pickett of California, MO, and Mark and Christy Meadors of Edmond, OK; grandchildren Krista, Brian, Keith, Michael, Dana, Ryan, Mark Alan, Jordan, Macee, Jaxson, and Hunter; great-grandchildren Dax, Maddox, Brooks, Sloane, Tyson, Peyton, Serenity, Brody, Hurley, Titus, Rian, Grayson, and Lillie V.; and a host of family and friends.
Jon’s Life Celebration was held at 10am Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 5005 SE 29th St., Del City, OK. Graveside services and burial were at 2pm Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Wetumka Cemetery in Wetumka, OK.
Pallbearers were grandsons Brian, Keith, Michael, Ryan, Mark Alan, Jaxson and Hunter.
Pastor and son Mark Meadors officiated his celebration.
