Lloyd Rio “Pete” Petete
Lloyd Rio (Pete) Petete of Moore, Oklahoma passed away on January 24, 2025, in Oklahoma City.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 29th, at Glorieta Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Custalow officiating.
Interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Hudson Phillip Funeral Home are handling the funeral arrangements.
Lloyd was born in Seminole, Oklahoma to Susie and Horace Petete on September 13, 1942. He went to Holdenville High School, graduating in 1960, and then attended college at Northeastern Oklahoma State University. He worked first in sales and management for Millers Sporting Goods for numerous years. His next job was for Twid’s Sporting Goods in team sales, only to leave there to start his own business called L&S Sports located in Moore.
Sports were a very vital part of his life. At HHS he was a standout athlete in both football and basketball. He had a love for the Sooners and a passion for coaching sports. In his life, he coached football, baseball and even soccer, though we cannot testify he knew much about soccer. For many years he was actively involved as the director of Little League programs for all of the Moore school system. With all these activities, he still often found time to play golf with Bro. Venable, pastor of Central Baptist church, who turned out to be a very influential
person in his life.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his mother and father, Horace andSusiePetete, along with grandparents, several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lillie Mae, of the home; two sons Scott (Dosha) of Moore and Steve (Peggy) of Oklahoma City; sisters, Vicky Mackey of Holdenville, Karen Petete of Ada, and brother Leon Petete (Vicky) of Edmond.
Also, he is survived by one auntAmy Owings and one uncle Perry Palmer as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Norman Regional Healthplex, Ignite Medical Rehabilitation (especially Mandy Stull), Fairmont Skilled Nursing Facility, Integris Baptist Hospital ICU floor and Integris Health Hospice House.
All of these facilities made the final months and days of Lloyd’s last moments comfortable.
