Longtime Holdenville Fire Chief Bobby Brittain passes away
Bobby Joe Brittain passed from this world on Sunday, September 25, 2022, in Alma, Arkansas.
Bobby was born March 5, 1933 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Jim Wilcy Brittain and Ona Mae (Edwards) Brittain.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Wilcy and Ona Brittain; four brothers: Harold Brittain, Dan Brittain, Willard Brittain, and Daryl Brittain; four sisters: Willie Smith, Billie Fitzgerald, Joyce Carl, and Shirley Weaver.
Bobby is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Loretta (Norris) Brittain of Arkansas; son Barney Brittain (Jackie) of Kentucky and daughter Sherry Brittain House of Arkansas; brother Eldon Brittain (Lorrie), and sister Sue Ron Jenrette (Beth), and Tonya Coffey (Darren) all of Kentucky, Jeremy House (Rachel), and Bobby House, all of Arkansas, and Matthew House of North Dakota; seventeen great grandchildren: Kylie Morgan Walters (Kyle) of California, Alexa Morgan (Scott) of Kentucky, Breanna House (Perry), Sarah Watson (Karl), Haleigh House (Layne), Hannah House, Peyton Barnhill, Japheth Barnhill, Liliannah Harper, Lucas House, Gracie House, Wrylan Dye, and Jasmyn House, all of Arkansas, Keira House, Myia House, and Kolten House, all of Ohio, and Dillon Jenrette of Kentucky; four great-great-grandchildren: Bryson Langley, Carter Langley, Emmalynne Watson, and Ellianna House, all of Arkansas; many loved nieces and nephews; special friend and coworker for many years, Dub Tatum.
Bobby was a firefighter in Holdenville for twenty years when he retired as Fire Chief. He served as Street Commissioner for eight years.
Bobby loved horses, the outdoors, and gardening. He was always meeting his friends for morning coffee. He always had a kind word and was ready to help anyone in need.

Viewing was Wednesday, September 28, at Penn West Baptist Church in Holdenville, then one last ride in the fire truck to begin his last journey at Holdenville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bobby’s grandsons: Jeremy House, Lucas House, Ron Jenrette, Bobby House, Matthew House, and Dillon Jenrette. Honorary pallbearers are Holdenville Firefighters.
