With heavy hearts, the Alford family mourns the passing of Beverly “Gail” Ann Patton-Rhodes, who transitioned on February 6, 2025, in Spencer, OK, after a courageous battle with illness. She was 64 years old.
Born on June 25, 1960, in Tulsa, OK, Gail was the beloved daughter of Antonia “Yvonne” Anderson and Walter Shannon. She was lovingly raised in Clearview, OK, by her devoted grandparents, Johnny and Elizabeth Patton. From an early age, Gail’s faith was an important part of her life. As an adult, she found comfort in her own path of spirituality and worship.
Gail attended Weleetka public schools and graduated from Weleetka High School. She later furthered her education at Rose State College where she majored in Business Education. Gail worked for Oklahoma Public Schools and later retired from the City of Oklahoma City Civic Center where she was known for her hard work and vibrant spirit.
On December 5, 1992, Gail married the love of her life, Sanford P. Rhodes. Their union lasted 32 years, built on love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Gail was full of life and personality. She was known for her sassy spirit, love of music, and passion for dancing. Gail loved her children tremen-dously, but above all, her greatest joy was her grand-children. She cherished every moment spent with them, and the love they shared was undeniable. She also found joy in being surrounded by her large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, whom she adored.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Elizabeth and Johnny Patton; aunts, Lillian Patton, Elizabeth Patton, Bernadine Patton-Cato, and Elfreda Patton; and uncle, James W. Patton.
Gail leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her loving husband, Sanford P. Rhodes; devoted parents Antonia “Yvonne” Anderson and Walter Shannon; daughter, Shamesha Patton; son, Shamron T. Rhodes; sister, Valerie Anderson-Bowens; brothers, Michael Patton and Gregory Anderson; granddaughters, Destynee Duffy and Journey Patton; grandsons, Tyrique Patton and Shamron Patton, Jr.; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
