In Loving Memory of Bonnie Owens Cooper

On October 9, 1937 in Okemah, Oklahoma, Bonnie Mae Owens was born to Ray and Naomi Forshee Owens. She was the fourth child of seven children.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Naomi Forshee Owens; her husband, Charles; three children: Katrina, Charles, Jr., and Anthony; on grandson, Curtis Jones; and three brothers: Clifford, Ray Jr., and Doug.

She confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and became an active member of the Church of The Living God CWFF.

Bonnie attended elementary school in the Galilee community near Okemah and Henderson Chapel School near Boley, Oklahoma. She graduated from Clearview High School and after graduation, she moved to Oklahoma City to seek employment. She moved her membership to Tabernacle Baptist Church she worked as an usher. She later moved her membership back to the Church of The Living God, which is now called Church of the Everlasting God.

In 1957, she married her true love, Charles Langston Cooper. This union was blessed with five children. Bonnie committed her heart to Christ and he ordered her steps to live as a devoted wife and servant. She was a great cook and loved singing and sharing the goodness of God.

She was “Mom Cooper” to the many children who grew up in the neighborhood o whom she touched in a physical, as well as a spiritual form.

Bonnie was a dedicated worker and maintained the philosophy that any job worth doing was worth doing well. To that end, bonnie performed her job admirably as a domestic worker in the home of Lloyd Rader Sr. and Doctor Lloyd Rader Jr. she retired from the Oklahoma Children’s Memorial Hospital after 20 years of service in the admitting department.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Veronica and husband Waylon Brooks; one son, Ricardo and wife Tammy Cooper; four grandchildren: Andre (Monique), Dominique, Aaron, and Kattie Cooper; great-grandchildren, Jamal “Wiggles” Jones and Aundrea Cooper; sister, Mildred Thornton, Irene Carson (Elder L.C.), and Norma Roberts (Melvin); sisters-in-law, Effilene and Freddie Owens; best friend, Carolyn Former; special cousin, Brandon Forshee; nieces, nephews, and the beloved Billy Ray Walker; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.

Services for Bonnie Owens Cooper were held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Rolfe Memorial Chapel in Oklahoma City under the direction of Rolfe Funeral Home, Inc. with Bishop Richard Gates officiating. Interment was at Riverside Gardens Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
