Our Sympathies extended to the families of... Derek Johnson
Derek Ray Johnson was born on January 24, 1984 in Ada, Oklahoma to Anthony “Andy” Johnson. He passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 in Wewoka at the age of 37.
Derek attended Weleetka Public Schools before transferring to Butner Public School. At the age of 16, he went to work for New Lima Construction where he worked as a lineman until 2012. He later worked for Arzo Inc. where he became a foreman and traveled with the pipeline. Derek was an amazing father who went above and beyond for his children. He loved spending his time doing yard work and took great pride in having the best looking lawn around. He liked to spend time cleaning vehicles making sure they were always in tiptop shape and the best looking around town. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his daughter and many of his friends. Many of his family members and friends describe Derek as being kind, giving, and the most selfless person you would meet. He was willing to help anyone that he came in contact with and was always ready to lend a helping hand where ever he could.
He is preceded in death by his son, Kaden Dewayne Johnson, his father Anthony “Andy” Johnson, his grandmother, Barbara Harjo, his grandfather, Raymond Johnson, and grandparents, Richard and Juanita Hair.
He is survived by his daughters, Makala Pack-Johnson of Wewoka, Kamya Smith, Ryleigh Sluder, sons, Kaysen Johnson, Mason Johnson, Kamauri Smith, Braedyn Sluder, Carter Sluder, Kamerson Sluder, and his fiancee, Amanda Sluder all of the home, sister, Stephanie Johnson of Wewoka, brother, Jeremy Johnson and wife, Brittanie Johnson of Wewoka, nephews, Tyson Walker of Duncan, Jaiden Johnson of Wewoka, Jailee Johnson of Wewoka, Piper Gore, Easton Gore and a host of other family member and friends.
Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2021 at New Life Church in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Pastor Chuck Simmons officiated. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers included Jeremy Johnson, Toby Hulbutta, Scott King, Anthony Scott, Colt Moore, Tyler Burden, and Kyle Renton.
Honorary Pallbearers included Dylan Lockett, Joshua Johnson, Keifer Lockett, Jeremy Freeman, Hunter Lunsford, Allen Tillery, Jimmy Basquez, Shannon Smith, Jim Burton, Richard Hair and Dustin Hair.
Arrangements were under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka, Oklahoma.
