Our Sympathies Extended to the Family of Patricia Ann Berry
Patricia Ann Berry was born September 13, 1949, to Lessie Mae Combs and Matherine Yarbrough in Wetumka, Oklahoma. She completed her education in the Wetumka Public School system. Patricia was raised in the Church of God in Christ on the north side of Wetumka, later becoming a member of First Baptist Church North, then finally Living Water PHC, all in Wetumka.
Patricia (affectionately known as Pat) met the future love of her life, Floyd Berry at a very young age, later to be married. To this union, a beautiful daughter, Jacqueline was born in 1965. Fifteen years later, she and Floyd welcomed a blessed addition to the family, a daughter, Melanie, born in 1980.
Together, Pat and Floyd made homes in Tulsa, Wichita, and finally back to Wetumka. She was an active member of her Wetumka community, which included serving on the city council. She held a variety of occupations in which she formed many rewarding and long-lasting friendships. These included Wetumka Nursing Home, Holdenville Walmart, EZ-Mart, Super C Mart, and Mabrey Bank (formerly known as The Bank of Commerce, then Citizens Bank). It was from Mabrey Bank that she celebrated retirement in December 2013.
Upon retiring, Pat could spend more time enjoying life with her best friend and husband Floyd, who had already retired. They enjoyed traveling to Connecticut and California to see their daughters and their families, casino visits, local travel and family visits, and time in worship with their church family. Pat also continued her love of reading with library and bookstore visits, along with book exchanges with friends and family. They continued their beautiful life together until 2016, when Floyd departed this earth after a brief illness. Pat stayed in the family home surrounded by the love and support of family and friends until she relocated to California in 2019 to live with Melanie and family.
In California, Pat encountered a new world of activity in which she was a well-loved member of the home, along with extended family and friends. She was a blessing to the lives of her youngest grandchildren, and they were indeed a great joy to her in uplifting her spirits and giving her a continued purpose and active role within this new environment. It was even more special when Jackie and her family visited. Pat joined Melanie and family in attending Abundant Living Family Church until her health kept her from attending in person. Still, she would watch services online for ALFC and Living Water. Pat continued to be a source of Christian love and Godly encouragement to her family and others, both near and far. She was always sharing her faith and reminding others that “God is in charge”.
After four and a half years in California, on April 28, 2024, Pat took her last breaths of life here on earth to join her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and be reunited with the love of her life, Floyd.
Pat leaves a beautiful legacy of love to her cherished family and friends: two daughters Jacqueline Starks of Stamford, CT (husband John Sr, son John Jr, daughters Chelsea and Tiara), Melanie Moore of San Bernardino, CA (husband David, son Solomon, daughter Maliyah); one brother, Harvey Yarbrough of Oakland, CA; along with loving sisters-in-love Melvena Samilton, Mable Loggins, Flody Patterson, all of Oklahoma, a brother-in-love Wilkie Berry of Kansas, nieces, nephews, along with many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lessie Mae and Matherine; sister Margene Stott, brothers Milton Raglin, Matherine Yarbrough, Edwin (Dee) Yarbrough, and William Yarbrough.
Memorials are planned for May 31 at Community Memorial Chapel in San Bernardino, CA and for July 19 in Wetumka, OK at Living Water PHC. Details will be forthcoming.
