Elwanda “Wanda” York passed away Friday, February 21, 2025 at her home in Holdenville, Oklahoma at the age of 91.
Wanda was born September 29, 1933 in McCurtain, Oklahoma to Pete Elhaney and Elizabeth ( H o l l i n g s w o r t h ) M c E l h a n e y McGeehee. Wanda attended school in McCurtain. Wanda married Samuel Edward York in Van Buren, Arkansas on July 9, 1949. She was a seamstress.
Wanda was a member of the Assembly of God in Holdenville. She was a Pink Lady for 60years and was an Iris Club member. Wanda enjoyed sewing, crafting, painting, crocheting, reading and audible books.
She loved being involved with her church. Wanda is preceded in death by her parents Pete and Elizabeth McElhaney; husband Sam York; daughter Janet Plants; and brother Merle McElaney.
She is survived by her children Judy Clenney and husband Randy of Choctaw, and Pamela York of Holdenville; grandchildren Dana Clenney, Nick and Lindsay Plants, Stephanie Plants, Rachel and Zach Newman, and Amy and Collin Fowler; great-grandchildren Jordan and Taryn Trammell, Logan Pennington, Kaiya, Mackenzie, Koda, Elijah Plants, Lillian, Harrison, Thaddeus Newman, and Remy and Luna Fowler. Wanda is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends. Viewing will be d 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 25th, at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 26th, at Assembly of God Church in Holdenville with Brother Alan
Interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery. Pallbeareres are Dwight Barnett, Ricky Arthur, Nicholas Plants, Collin Fowler, Dane Ford and Floyd Lumpkin. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
