Richard Chavez

Richard Chavez “Chino” was born June 6,1938 in Yuma, Arizona to Juan and Rafaela (Amparano) Chavez. He passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at his home in Wetumka at the age of 83.

Chino worked as a farm laborer in Arizona for many years. He enjoyed making salsa for everyone and growing peppers. Chino also loved going to the casino during his retirement years.

He and Dolores married on November 4, 1972 and had been together for 53 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Juan Chavez Jr., Charlie Chavez, and Abraham Chavez, two sisters, Gregoria Calballero and Eleanore Gill.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores of the home; his three sons, Richard Chavez Jr. of Wetumka, OK., Christopher Chaves of Yuma, AZ., and James Chavez of Wetumka, OK., one daughter Karen Chavez of Phoenix, AZ., one brother, Charles Chavez and wife Carole of Roll, AZ., three sisters, Rosemarie Aguiar of Tucson, AZ., Dora Fluker and husband Leroy of Desert Hot Springs, CA., and Belinda C. Planche of Port Allen, LA. Along with 11 grandchildren and a host of relatives.

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Wetumka, Oklahoma.
