Richard Merle Johnston, Jr.

Funeral services for Richard Merle Johnston Jr. was held today, Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Wetumka, Oklahoma. Interment followed at the Wetumka Cemetery with full military honors.

Richard Merle Johnston Jr. was born November 20, 1950 in Ridgecrest, California to Richard Merle Johnston Sr. and Vera Mae (Brown) Johnston. He passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 near Okemah at the age of 70.

Richard worked with the department of corrections and was also a retired truck driver. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles. He was a retired veteran having proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Army. On December 28, 2000, he married Connie Tinkler.

He is survived by two sons, Richard Johnston and wife Michelle of Gowen, Oklahoma and Joshua Miller of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two daughters, Suzanne Johnston of Florida and Rachel Fletcher and husband Steven of Broken Arrow; two sisters, Alice Bipat and husband Dion of Las Vegas and Sharon Byrd and husband Bill of Texas; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Service was under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home.
