Service to be held for Letha Joann Sterling
Letha Joann Sterling passed away Wednesday, February 21st, 2024 at her home in Alamogordo, New Mexico at the age of 90.
Letha was born November 9, 1933 in Hughes County to Harvey Holliman Sr. and Myrtle (Johnston) Holliman. She went to school in Atwood, OK until the 10th grade.
She did not have a diploma or degree but that did not stop her from making her way working at Tinker and doing anything she set her mind to.
She married Lesley Sterling on April 2, 1949. They lived in the area until 1950 when she and her husband Lesley moved to the Oklahoma City area.
She resided in this area until 2000 when she moved to Espanola, New Mexico. In 2015 she moved back to the Oklahoma City area until 2023 when she moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico. She worked at Tinker over 20 years, she was the first female supervisor in this area in repairing and replacing fuel cells on B-52’s and A-Wac’s.
Letha was a member of Sooner Baptist Church since 2017.
She loved to crochet, paint, work in the yard and so many more things. She could do anything that involved arts and crafts and was great at any of them.
Letha is preceded in death by her parents; husband Lesley Sterling; sister Frankie Luna; brothers Harvey Holliman Jr. and brother Gene Holliman.
She is survived by her son Larry Sterling; daughter Beverly Sterling; grandchildren Dijon Garcia and husband Moses, Spencer Sterling, and Jessica Parker and husband Derek; greatgrandchildren Justyn Garcia and Brightly Parker; great-greatgrandchild Jaxon Garcia; and sistersin- law Sue Holliman, and Donna Holliman.
Letha is survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be 1:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, February 29th, and 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, Friday, March 1st, at HudsonPhillips Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, March 2nd, at HudsonPhillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, officiated by Pastor John Hutchinson.
Pallbearers are Michael Holliman, Adam Garcia, Todd Holliman, Spencer Sterling, Justyn Garcia and Andy Garcia.
Honorary pallbearers are Bryr Holliman, and Damian Buchanan.
