Service Friday for Margie June Dodd
Margie June Dodd passed away at her home near Bowlegs, Oklahoma on Friday, May 19, 2023, at the age of 86 years.
Margie was the daughter of Lotus & Pearl (Hailey) Gaines, born on June 28, 1936, in Sasakwa, Oklahoma, where she was brought up and attended schools. She was one of eight children, and she had to slop the pigs before school. She worked as a waitress in Wewoka at Berry's Waffle House, where she met David Bruce Dodd. David & Margie were married in Wewoka on August 20, 1953, and were blessed with three children: Linda, David, and William.
They lived for a few years in Wewoka, moved to Oklahoma City in 1960 and lived there for several years before moving to Enid, where they lived for two years before spending several years living in Pontiac, Michigan. They returned to Oklahoma and have made their home for the past several years near Bowlegs.
Margie worked fifteen years for Humpty Dumpty stores. She was also a realtor and an interpreter for the deaf at Oklahoma Community College.
She was creative and talented and was always very busy teaching signs, sewing, needlework, crocheting, and knitting. She was a minister and pastor for the Assemblies of God, and was a Pentecostal preacher to the deaf. She will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty eight years, David Bruce Dodd; three sisters: Belva, Betty, and Doris, and two brothers, Odell and Jerry.
She is survived by three children: Linda Isbell of McLoud, David Dodd Jr of Bowlegs, and William Paul Dodd of Flint MI; eight grandchildren: Jennifer Rowe, Muffin Hart, Elizabeth Welch, Erin Celest Dodd, David Dodd III, William Dodd Jr, Tiffany Baumgras, LaDia Dodd, and Katina; fifteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; two brothers, Eddie Gaines of Texas and Jim Gaines of Bowlegs; nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 26, 2023, 10:00am at Fisher Funeral Home-Lillye Chapel, and Margie will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.
Rev. Roy Roberson is the officiating minister. Pallbearers are David Dodd III, Eric Welch, Jim Gaines, and Carl Krause.
