Service held for Gene Carter

Gene Olin Carter passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at McAlester Hospital in McAlester, Oklahoma at the age of 89.

Gene was born December 23, 1930 in Greasy Creek in Hughes County to Arthur and Dora (Milam) Carter. He attended Greasy Creek School. Gene married Gertrude Tripp on October 12, 1950. Gene worked as a miner for Climate Colorado in Leadville, Colorado.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents; wife; son Terry Gene Carter; brother Andrew Carter; sister Chlorene Carter; granddaughter Vicki Marie Carter Brown; nephews, Eddie Carter, Danny Weger, and Mike Weger; and niece Cathy Sipes.

He is survived by his children, Jerry Dale Carter and wife Betsy of Florence, Colorado, Allen D. Carter and wife Della of Wetumka, Debbie E. Kelso and husband Steve of Salida, Colorado, and David Lynn Carter and wife Debbie of Holdenville; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was 1:30 PM Saturday, April 4 ^th , at Yeager Chapel in Yeager, Oklahoma officiated by Bill Robinson. Interment followed at Yeager Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chad Carter, Vance Kelso, Mike Carter, Terry Carter, Beany Struna and Josh Rogers. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Carter, David Carter, Rusty Carter, Larry Weger, Kennith Carter, Kevin Carter, Donny Carter, Tony Carter, John Carter and Danny Carter.

Services were under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
