Service held for Janice Ann Smith
Janice Ann Smith left this world Friday, November 11, 2022 from her home in Holdenville, Oklahoma at the age of 83.
Janice was born June 17, 1939, in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Leemon Lee Scroggins and Hazel Helen (Wingo) Scroggins. Janice graduated from Holdenville High School and worked in the banking industry for 30 years eventually retiring from 1st United Bank in Holdenville. She was one of the most beautiful human beings. There was no one she didn’t love and no one that didn’t love her. She greeted everyone with a smile or a hug. Her laugh was infectious and she always had time to listen.
Janice was a member of First Baptist Church in Holdenville and always reminded her family that God was in charge. She loved her family with every inch of her heart. Her children, her grandchildren, her family gave her joy. She was an active and caring woman who spent most of her life thinking about others. She was always feeding birds, had a passion for nature, estate sales, OU sports and 50’s music. She liked listening to Rod Stewart’s Maggie Mae or Fats Domino Blueberry Hill. Her legacy will carry on as her family learned how to give of themselves, the example she set for us all. Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Leeman and Hazel Scroggins, sister Flo Martin, and brother Lanny Lee David Scroggins.
She is survived by her children Mark Smith and wife Amy of Ada, and Julie Kinney and husband Bill of Oklahoma City; brother Larry Scroggins and wife Karen of Holdenville; grandchildren Zachariah Smith of Ada, Elijah Smith of Bixby, Rose Smith of Ada, Katelyn Kinney of Oklahoma City and Connor Kinney of Oklahoma City; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 22, at the First Baptist Church in Holdenville with Dr. Danny Frazee officiating and Phil Johnson assisting. Interment followed at Holdenville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Zachariah Smith, Elijah Smith, David Scroggins, Jason Scroggins, Chad Byerly, and Phil Johnson. Services were under thedirectionofHudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville, Oklahoma.
