Service held for Myrl M. Newport

Myrl M. (Gray) Newport was born on June 8, 1928 in Oak Grove, Oklahoma to parents Bart Jefferson Gray and Lona Lee (Dover) Gray. She passed from this life on March 7, 2020 in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 91.

Myrl was raised and attended school in Oak Grove. She married Virgil Newport in Eufaula in August 1949. Three children were born to their union. In 1964 they decided to make their home farming in Wetumka Oklahoma. In addition to farming with her husband, Myrl was a certified medication aid. She worked many years at the Wetumka Nursing Home.

Myrl is preceded in death by her hus band, Virgil; her newborn son, Gary Newport; her parents, Bart and Lona; and five brothers and three sisters.

Myrl is survived by her daughter, Shirley Hast and husband, David, of Pennsylvania; her son, Virgil Newport, Jr. and wife, Kathy, of Kansas; four grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Myrl Newport were held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 2:00pm at Greenwood Cemetery in Eufaula, Oklahoma. G.C. Gray officiated. Services were under the direction of Williamson-Spradlin Funeral home of Wetumka and Weleetka.
