Service today for Birtie Loretta Priest

Services for Birtie Loretta Priest, 71, of Ada are 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27th at the Ada First Baptist Church, Dr. Phillip V. Sturgeon and Rev. Mike Russell will officiate. Burial will follow at Non Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Priest passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 at her home. She was born June 19, 1947 at Lindsay to Howard Jackson Holdsclaw, II and Magnolia Mae Jenkins Holdsclaw. She graduated from Hughes High School and received a Bachelor’s degree in Education from East Central University.

She married Lloyd Joe Priest May 30, 1968 at Ada. Mrs. Priest was a homemaker, a member of the Ada First Baptist Church and a “Big 5” board member.

Survivors include her husband, Joe, of the home; daughter, Joetta Boyles and husband Stephen of Ada; a son, Stephen Priest and wife Kirsten of Edmond; four granddaughters, Ashlynn Priest, Taylor Priest, Megan Boyles and Morgan Boyles; two brothers, Howard Holdsclaw, Jr. and wife Lois of Purcell and James Holdsclaw and wife Lynn of Oklahoma City; a sister, JoDane Rhame of Purcell; sister-in-law, Loretta Abney and husband Terry of Ada; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, W. C. Holdsclaw; brother-in-law, Melvin Priest and his wife Deborah; and two nephews, Howard “Dennis” Holdsclaw, III and Allen Holdsclaw.

Bearers will be nephews Teddy Abney, Mark Priest, Greg Priest, Paul Priest, Jarrod Newby and Willy Anderson. Honorary bearers will be, Frank Holdsclaw, Jeff Hartley, W. C. Holdsclaw, Jr., and Judson Holdsclaw.
