Service Friday for Betty Frances Adams
Betty Frances Adams was born April 6th, 1926 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to John Walker Critz Jr. and Etta Rose (Tripp) Critz. She passed away on August 22nd, 2018 at the age of 92. In 1933 the family moved to Wewoka and she lived there until she graduated from Wewoka High School.
On August 31, 1943, she was married to C. A. (Buster) Adams in Key West, Florida. He was a Pharmacist Mate 1st Class in the U. S. Navy.
In 1945, they came to Holdenville where they raised three children; Janet, Carol, and Larry. Buster Adams passed away July 3, 1979. She married George Whitton in 1981 who passed away in 2000. She later married Earl Sharp in 1996 who passed away in 2006.
Her hobbies were cooking, sewing, crafts and playing bridge. She had the same bridge foursome for over 40 years. Betty and her family entered the restaurant business and owned several in Holdenville. She owned and operated the Queen Bee, The White House Restaurant, Betty Adams Restaurant, and the Wolverine Den. She and Buster also owned A&K Auto Supply and The Capri Motel. In her later years, she worked as a school secretary at Holdenville High School and as a cashier for First National Bank. She volunteered for the Pink Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of First Baptist Church since 1945. Betty treasured her friends and family and always said she had a great life.
She was preceded in death by her parents J. W. and Etta Critz, husbands, grandson Scotty Ligon. She is survived by her daughters Jan Sipe of Tulsa and Carol (James) Ozzello of Pueblo West, Colorado and son Larry (Sandy) Adams of Yukon. She had six grandchildren Chris Ligon, Clay (Nicole) Sipe, Brian (Jenny) Adams, Tara Ligon, Wendy (Jade) Clark, and Pamela (T.J.) Hobby. In addition she had eight great-grandchildren Courtney Ligon, Alexa Ligon, Joe, Grace and Jack Adams, Paige and Katie Clark, and Ava Sipe and two great-great grandchildren Alexander and Allan Eddy as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Holdenville Cemetery Chapel in Holdenville. Rev. Dane Robinson will officiate the service. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Alzheimer Association.
