Health careers in Oklahoma are in high demand and provide a competitive salary with job security. WWTC offers Practical Nursing, Surgical Technology, and Multi-Skilled Healthcare Provider as options for adult students interested in health careers.
The Practical Nursing program prepares students to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, an important member of the healthcare team who works under the supervision or direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or dentist. Students will learn the role of the LPN and how to care for a variety of patients including geriatric, pediatric, oncology, and pre/ post-operative patients. They will also learn how to identify patient problems, identify appropriate interventions and evaluated nursing care. Graduates of this program will be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN and become licensed through the Board of Nursing. WWTC is currently accepting applications for this program. The deadline to apply is November 1, 2019.
Surgical Technologists handle instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures and work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel to deliver patient care before, during, and after surgery. This program combines classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and clinical experience to ensure that each graduate meets entry-level competencies as a Surgical Technologist.
The Multi-Skilled Healthcare Provider program prepares a multi-skilled individual to work in an acute care or clinical office setting in a support role to licensed care givers. Students will be trained in skills and competencies essential for Nurse Aides, EKG Technicians, and Phlebotomists. Students can obtain a state certification in Long Term Care and Health Care Assistant and a national certification in EKG and Phlebotomy. This program also provides the prerequisites needed to apply for the Practical Nursing program. WWTC is currently accepting applications for this program. The deadline to apply is November 1, 2019.
