James Monroe Griffith passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 80.

James was born November 30, 1940 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Levi Griffith and Dora Mae Null Griffith. He graduated from Stuart Public School. He served in the US States Army. James married Gwendolyn Hayes on June 6, 1961 in Atwood, Oklahoma. He was a Munition Destroyer at McAlester Ammunition Depot for many years before he retired. James enjoyed fishing, hunting, driving around and working on the place. He loved his family, kids and grandkids.

James is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, sister, Irene Baker; and brother Monte Rowe.

He is survived by his wife Gwen of the home; children Frank Griffith and wife Denise of Allen, Regina Woodward and husband Nick of Allen, and Theron Griffith and wife Hollie of Allen; six grandchildren, Terra Wainscott and husband Cody, Calem Woodward and wife Latisha, Caitlin Smith and husband Brandon, Trevor Griffith and wife Chelsea, Coleten Griffith, and Brayden Griffith; eight great-grandchildren; and sister Cristina Bramlett of Wewoka. James is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, January 21st , at the Richmond Free Will Baptist Church in Allen with Pastor Bobby Briggs officiating. Interment will follow at Atwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Calem Woodward, Trevor Griffith, Coleten Griffith, Brayden Griffith, Brandon Smith and Brad Black. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Bramlett, Michael Bramlett and Cody Wainscott.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
