Richard Clinton Habern

Richard Clinton Habern, born January 12, 1954, died Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at the age of 67 years. A private family graveside service will be held at the Holdenville Cemetery in Holdenville, Oklahoma. A memorial service will be hosted at Denton Bible Church, 2300 E. University Drive, Denton, Texas on Friday, March 5 ^th , at 2:00 p.m.

Richard Habern, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle was born in Amarillo, Texas, and left this earth for his eternal home on February 2, 2021 at The Home Place Assisted Living Center in Sanger, Texas, after a long battle with FTD (frontotemporal degeneration), a form of dementia. With his son, John Habern, at his side Richard passed away peacefully.

Richard was born to parents Frank and Patricia Habern. He was the middle of three boys. During Richard’s childhood, the family lived in over twelve locations due to their father’s work with Boeing.

Richard graduated from Lewisville High School in 1972. It was in high school that he attended his first Young Life meeting and was led to faith in Christ by his Young Life leader and English teacher, Judy Moore. After high school, Richard went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Midwestern State University. Richard was a long time member of Denton Bible Church.

God blessed Richard with a long career in medical sales for several top medical manufacturers in the U.S., including Stryker Medical, Pedigo Products, and Stanley, Inc. Richard was passionate about many things. He loved a good quote, coaching his boys, a hot fire (even when it was 75 degrees outside), and Oklahoma football! In his later years, as a parent involved in his four children’s educational experiences, Richard spent many hours donating his time, talents, and resources to Liberty Christian School. For over twenty years, he was the “Voice of Liberty,” announcing home football games for the Liberty Christian Warriors. His voice still rings in people’s minds as they recall the Friday night lights on a chilly fall in North Texas.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Patricia LaValley Habern and brother Frank Habern III.

Richard is survived by his wife, Debi Stewart Habern; daughter, Emily Habern Rozell and husband, Clay, of Sanger, Texas; three sons, John Habern and wife, Connie, of Corinth, Texas, Matthew Habern and wife, Nicole, of Denton, Texas, and Benjamin Habern and wife, Morgan, of Irving, Texas; grandchildren Reveau (Rev) Rozell, Calvin Rozell, Hannah Rozell, and Hazel Rozell of Sanger, Texas, Vance Habern and Vivian Habern of Corinth, Texas, and Hudson Habern of Denton, Texas; and siblings, Mike Habern and wife, Kristy, Lauren Habern of Ft. Worth, Texas and Michael Habern of Sanger, Texas.

Richard will be dearly missed by all, however our trust is in the One who created Richard and we are confident He is working all things out for good for those who love Him. We will see Richard again. Until then, we press on! The family requests remembrances be made in Richard’s hon
