Lofton Crossno

Lofton Wayne Crossno, son of Isaac and Ina Nellie Carpenter Crossno, was born October 27, 1933 in Wynona, Oklahoma. Lofton passed away in Holdenville November 15, 2018. He attended schools in Lamar and Holdenville, Oklahoma. After graduating from Holdenville High School, he attended Draughons’ School of Business in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

While attending school

in Oklahoma City, he met Dollie Faye Marshall and they were married June 9, 1957. They maintained their home in Holdenville following their marriage.

While in the Holdenville school, he was employed at the Ben Franklin Store, and after completing his education at Draughon’s returned to

Holdenville to work and manage the store. Later he and Faye purchased the store from C.C. and Nan Wade. Years later he and Faye opened the Sew `N` So in Holdenville and operated this business for 19 years.

He served in the United States Army and after training in El Paso, Texas and Camp Lee, Virginia he was assigned to SCARAF with the air force at Stephenville, Newfoundland.

Lofton served as scout master for Boy Scout Troop 456. When his son entered Cub Scouts, he became Pack Master for three years. He also served as troop leader for the Senior Girl Scouts in Holdenville and served on the board of the Tiak Girl Scout Council in McAlester, Oklahoma. He was also in the community theater in Holdenville and was in the productions of I Never Sang for My Father` and `Inherit the Wind`.

He was a member of the Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church, joining when he was 11 years of age. He served as Sunday School teacher for 5th grade students and also taught the Open Door class when it was organized. Lofton was lesson leader for the John Brown Class, served on the Board of Trustees and the Financial Committee. He also served as a Lay Speaker and led several Disciples’ Bible Studies through the years.

He and Faye organized the Boots N` Bows Square Dance Club in 1987 and served in various offices of that organization. They remained as charter members for the years that followed. Lofton also served on the school board for Holdenville Public Schools for 15 years.

After retiring from business, he and

Faye became members of the Holdenville Society of Painters and Sculptors. He served as president of the organization for three years and as secretary for one year. Later he served as president for an additional two years. He also prepared the newsletter for mailing to members and was active in preparing the year book for printing. He and Faye were active in the Art Shows given by the center.

Survivors are his wife, Faye, of the home, his son, Kevin Crossno and Stephanie of Holly Lake Ranch, TX and daughters Cynthia Hall and Doug of Owasso, OK, Lisa Elliott and Jamie of Ada, OK and Margie Crossno and Vickie Holler of Tulsa, OK. Grandsons are Logan Elliott and Machelle of Fort Polk, LA, Brannan Crossno of Oklahoma City, John Elliott and Mat of Blanchard, OK, and Isaac Crossno of Oklahoma City, OK. Granddaughters are Megan Atashroo and David of San Leandro, CA, Stacy Shaw and Joe of Painted Post, NY, Elizabeth Elliott of Ada, OK, Madelyn Comstock of Ada, OK, and Kylie Holler of Tulsa, OK. Great grandchildren are Ellie Wainscott, Connor, Roland and Thomas Comstock and Revy Atashroo. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Roy Crossno and Joel Crossno.

Family will be meeting at the funeral home Friday evening, September 23, 2018, between 6:00 and 8:00 to meet and greet family friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday November 24, 2018 at the Barnard Methodist Church, Rev. Robert Foos will officiate.

Funeral Service is under the direction of Hudson Phillips Funeral Home.
