Garey Ogle
Garey E. Ogle was born March 22, 1947 in Hanna, Oklahoma to Charley Ogle and Velma Dean (Choate) Ogle and passed from this life November 13, 2018 in Tulsa at the age of 71.
Garey’s father was in the military so he lived around the world depending on where he was stationed at the time. He started school in Guam and was a 1965 graduate of Weleetka High School. On September 18, 1966, he was married to Nancy Earls. They celebrated 51 years of marriage this year.
As a young man, he entered the United States Air Force where he honorably served his country during the Vietnam conflict. While in service he was an air traffic controller and following his discharged he continued in that capacity for the Civil Service. He relocated to Dallas, Texas where he worked at Love Field and the DFW International Airport. He gave eleven years of service to his country.
Garey and the family moved to Okmulgee where he attended Okmulgee Tech and studied auto mechanics. They later relocated to Ada where he and his wife attended East Central State College. For the past forty-one years they have made Weleetka their home. He was employed some nineteen years for the Weleetka Housing Authority. He was awarded numerous citations from HUD including being named Oklahoma’s outstanding housing authority supervisor three consecutive years. He was also awarded an honorary lifetime membership to the Future Farmers of America by the Weleetka chapter. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Weleetka, the Masonic Lodge, the Henryetta Lions Club, and the Weleetka Pride Makers.
Garey received his pilot’s license while in Texas and he enjoyed flying. He was also an avid fisherman and was a member of Bass Masters in Ada and Okmulgee. While he did not hunt himself, he was always the cook at the Outlaw Deer Camp. He loved cooking not only there but anywhere he could entertain family and friends.
Garey was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include: his wife Nancy and two sons, James Edmond and Brandon Kyle, all of the home; a daughter Barbra Ogle-Caldwell and husband Rex of Coweta; a brother Gregory Ogle and wife Gloria of Weleetka; four grandchildren, Daigan Ogle and Landon, Alonna, and Morgan Caldwell; along with six great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Services were held Friday, November 16, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Weleetka with Rev. Dale Smith, pastor, officiating. Pallbearers were Daigan Ogle, Billy Ogle, Dee Ogle, Frisco Yargee, Rex Caldwell, and Chris Ray. Honorary bearers were Dale Pendley, Dennis Stuckey, Dennis Stuckey, Jr., Jack Pangle, Charles Woods, and Ronnie Dens-more. Interment was in the Weleetka Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home of Weleetka.
