Thurman Lee Hester
On Monday, March 29, 2021, Thurman Lee (Pete) Hester, husband, father of two and grandfather of two, passed away at age 86.
Thurman Lee (Pete) Hester was born on December 4, 1934 in Non, Oklahoma to Claude and Lola Hester and is preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, his brother, Billy and sisters, AnnaBelle and Lois.
After high school graduation Pete went to Blackwood Business College where he was certified in accounting. He joined the Navy and served our country for years, then returned to Oklahoma and began a career as a truck driver. He worked as an owner/operator and eventually retired from Oklahoma Publishing Company.
In his spare time, Thurman (Pete), enjoyed golfing and working on crossword puzzles However, his first love was music. He was a musician and delighted everyone with his music, sharing it with family and friends. Even when he had to chuckle through some lyrics, he always put a song in everyone’s heart. His biggest joy was playing traditional country music at senior centers for them to dance to.
Thurman (Pete) was married to Lindya, and loved her family as his own. He is survived by her, her family, his two children, and two grandchildren. He leaves a son, Thurman ‘Lee’ Hester Jr., his wife Jennie, and their daughter Grace; and his daughter, Karyn, her husband Brad Corn and their daughter, Kelsey. These two grandchildren, Kelsey Corn and Grace Hester were the light of their Granpa’s eyes. He so loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Services were held at Barnes and Freidrich Funeral Home, Midwest City, at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 6th , with graveside services following at 3:00 pm at the Non Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Highland Park Baptist Church, Suncrest Hospice Care, and the VA Medical Center.
