Service Saturday 10:00 am for Tina Berry
A Henryetta woman died after a crash in Okfuskee County yesterday.
Troopers say it happened just after 9 p.m. on Highway 75 north of Weleetka.
Tina Berry, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene by Creek Nation EMS.
According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Berry was driving northbound on Highway 75 when her vehicle left the roadway and hit a cement culvert on the south side of the road, traveled along the culvert, then hit it again on the north side and came to a stop.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The Henryetta community is grieving the loss of Ms. Berry. She leaves huge shoes to fill, but the students and staff at Henryetta Middle School are trying to keep pushing forward. They said that’s what she would’ve wanted.
Principal Jayme Matlock said it’s been a tough week for everyone at Henryetta Middle School, after they learned of the deadly crash Monday night that took Berry’s life.
“Having to tell the staff and the students that she wouldn’t be with us was really difficult,” Matlock said.
Berry was a beacon of joy, laughter, and happiness. That’s how middle school Secretary Beth Potter remembers her.
“She was a person that loved life,” she said.
Her close friend Kim Walker of Wetumka told the Tribune what a wonderful person she was and that she was really going to miss her.
Facebook posts from parents and fellow staff members paint the picture of a very loved person. They tell of hurt hearts and prayers, of a friend and fellow baseball fan, but most of all a shining light with a bright personality and a smile that lit up the room.
“She always had a positive take on how to get through a difficult circumstance,” Matlock said. “My words to the students were basically what Ms. Berry would’ve said to them. We’ll get through this together.”
Though the sun may have set on Ms. Berry’s life, her glow burns bright in the hearts and minds of students and teachers forever.
Services for Tina will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 in the Henryetta High School gymnasium.
