Our Sympathies extended to the families of...Ralonda “Jo” LaValley
Ralonda “Jo” LaValley passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021. She was surrounded by loving family as her journey here on earth ended. She was 87 years old.
She was born September 16, 1934 to Roy Cook and Ida Lee (Moss) Cook in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She graduated from Holdenville High School where she was the homecoming queen. She attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
On September 1, 1953, she married the love of her life, Dale LaValley, in Holdenville. They spent the remainder of their years in Tulsa. Jo was an incredible homemaker, seamstress and cook. She gracefully carried her homemaking skills to countless campsites and creek banks making “roughing it” look easy.
She committed her life to raising her three children and providing them and Dale with the best possible home. She faithfully attended Sheridan Road Baptist Church for over fifty years where she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior on June 26, 1971.
During retirement, Dale and Jo enjoyed fishing, camping, and attending bluegrass festivals. She enjoyed collecting Franciscan Desert Rose pottery, Precious Moments figurines and many other collectables. Jo and her “girls” made annual fun trips to Las Vegas for over 20 years. It was one of the highlights of her year to spend special time with her special people.
In their later years they moved to Aberdeen Heights Assisted Living where
Jo was very involved with all activities, from Dominoes and Trivia to the Pinewood Derby where she finished in 1 st place. The staff and residents at Aberdeen adored both her and Dale.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy (Kristie) of Cedaredge, Colorado; her daughters, Debbie Jo (Michael) Berrier of Centennial, Colorado, and Kay (Scott) Pryer of Tulsa; seven grandchildren, Brandon (Cori) LaValley, Sean (Tijana) LaValley, Clint (Bethany) Spencer, Jessica (Jeff) Taylor, Nick (Dystaney) Nordberg, Julie (Austin) Chadwick, and Brent (Michelle) Pryer; and 18 greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; her parents, Roy and Ida Lee Cook; and her brother Fred Cook.
Our family would like to thank the staff of Aberdeen Heights Assisted Living for the love and care they provided to our Mom and Dad.
