Richard Leon Shelby

Richard Leon Shelby was born January 5, 1954 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Vernon Shelby and Leathia Emery Shelby and passed from this life at his home in Wetumka on September 11, 2022.

Richard was raised in the Oklahoma City area and attended Oklahoma City public schools. He married Ferlinda Kay Carr and she preceded him in death. Mr. Shelby made his living as a builder, mechanic, and had worked for a company which built batteries for automobiles.

Survivors include: his sisters, Sharon Jean Smith, Evelyn Renee’ (Dennis) Albert, and Lynn Wilson; brothers Clarence A. Hicks, Kenneth W. Johnson, and Ronnie E. Carson Emery; along with several other relatives and many friends.

Viewing and visitation will be Friday, September 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home in Wetumka. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 24, at 11:00 a.m. at the Disciples of Christ Outreach Ministries, Inc., located at 3633 S.E. 15th, Del City, Oklahoma. Interment will be in the Wisner Cemetery near Wetumka at 3:00 p.m.
