Phillis Theresa James

Phillis Theresa James passed away Friday, February 17, 2023, at St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age 73.

Phillis was born February 20, 1949 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to John Olden and Iola (Porter) Olden. Phillis graduated from Holdenville High School. She served our country for eight years in the Air Force. Phillis married Rick Welch. She was the cook at Elmwood Nursing Home in Wewoka and Boyce Manor Nursing Home in Holdenville for many years. Phillis was a member of the Church of Christ in Holdenville on Creek Street. Phillis loved gardening, flowers, cooking and spending time with family.

Phillis is preceded in death by her parents; husband Rick Welch; and brother Porter John Olden.

She is survived by her children Cecil Billard and husband Jonathan of Houston, Marcus Perry and wife Jessica of Holdenville, and Michael James of Holdenville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings Patricia Newbill of San Jose, California and Pamela Gordon of Holdenville. Phillis is also survived by numerous other family and friends. Memorial service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 25th, at Hudson Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dwight Porter officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at Buckner Family Cemetery.
