Lee Jean Shields
Lee Jean Shields, age 99, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
Lee was born on February 11, 1924 in Los Angeles, California, where she was raised.
In the summer of 1947, she met and fell in love with Kenneth Shields.
They eloped to Las Vegas and were married on February 7, 1948.
Lee held various jobs throughout her life and also picked up a myriad of hobbies. She joined her husband on the farm taking care of the animals, tending impressive gardens, sewing, crafting, making beautiful quilts and baby blankets for family members, showing off her talents in painting, and of course taking care of the home. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing with her husband and although she lived through many periods of time in her life, she shared her favorite time in history was the fifties because 'it was a good time after the war and people were genuinely happy and safe and seemed more lighthearted.’
Mom, Mother-in-Law, Grandma, and her newest title, Gigi was loved by all who came to know her. Though small in stature, she was big in personality and determination.
It is safe to say she never met a stranger and had no problems carrying on a conversation with anyone she met. She kept her spunky nature until the end of her days. She was strong and determined mentally, emotionally, and physically.
She fought through a life we knew little about but never wavered in her faith. She always kept her prayer books with her and her morning time with the Lord was a priority for her.
Above all, Lee loved her family and devoted her life to serving them in many capacities.
She was always thankful for the family she had been given. She had 10 grandchildren and many greatgrandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Shields; daughter, Beth Hill; grandson, Kenneth Hill; and two great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Darrel Shields of Lamar; daughter Linda Cranfield and husband Greg Cranfield of Tulsa; daughter Madelynn Micon of San Diego, California; and many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and greatgreat- grandchildren.
She was loved dearly by her family and will be deeply missed.
