J.C. Kanard age 85, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in Holdenville, OK. He was born April 21, 1938 in Dustin, OK to the late Albert Rice and Rosanna Kanard Powell. He married Freda Faye (Snow) Kanard on October 16, 1959 in Wewoka, OK and she preceded him in death on July 20, 2010. He graduated from Holdenville High School and served in the National Guard. He was a deacon of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Holdenville, OK. He worked for Burtons IGA and later worked at Scotts IGA then retired from Moore’s IGA. He enjoyed going to church, working on lawn mowers, weed eaters, or anything he could fix.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Freda Kanard, granddaughter, Jaci Kanard, siblings, Wilson Powell, Sandy Powell, Jimmy Powell, Lorene Baker, and Bonnie Johnson. J.C. is survived by his children, Janet Douglas and husband Billy of Wewoka, OK, Tommy Kanard and wife La-Donna of Seminole, OK, Jeff Kanard and wife Kelli of Cromwell, OK, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sister, Sarah Marklein of The Villages, FL, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 2, 2023 at Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Holdenville, OK with Brother Earl Scroggins officiating. Interment to

follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, OK. Pallbearers: Andrew Douglas, Aaron Douglas, Taylor Kanard, Cayleb Kanard, Braxton Bryant, CarterBryant,andMichaelKanard.
