Jewel Thomas Akin
Jewel Thomas “JT” “Scooter” Akin, born May 8, 1920, passed away in Ada, Oklahoma on March 8, 2024 at 103 years young.
Jewel was born to Thomas “Bud” Akin and Carrie Bell (nee Nalley), on May 8, 1920 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma in a cotton field,
literally. Jewel loved to travel and lived in many places in his lifetime, including California and Colorado. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fiddlin' and whittlin'.
Jewel lived on his own and happily cooked his own meals until he moved into the nursing home this past winter. He was known for his specialty, chocolate gravy and biscuits.
Jewel had a gentle, loving spirit. No matter where he went, he seemed to know someone. Many loved him and he will be missed greatly.
He is survived by daughter Judy and her husband Larry Goodwin of Redding, California; grandchildren, Rhonda Goodwin, Brenda Goodwin and Cindy Tomlinson.; six greatg randchildren, Haley, Ryan, Katie, Ashley, Tyler and Kendell; and two great-greatg randchildren: Hudson and Noah. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Ellie, Anna, Avie, Robert, and Juanita.
Funeral service were 2:00 pm, Monday, March 11th, at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Tate Mountain Cemetery. Honorary pall bearers were Danny Stafford, Roger Lancaster, and Delton Tollett.
Services were under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
