Lula Hillyer
Lula Hillyer was born September 6, 1939, to Edgar Rogers and Opal Chastain. Lula passed from this life on May 20, 2024, at her home in Wetumka, Oklahoma.
Lula went to several different schools when she was growing up. Some of them include Lamar, Graham, Weleetka and Tulsa schools. She would go on to complete business school in Amarillo.
Lula had many hobbies that she enjoyed. Sewing and embroidering, reading novels, and traveling were some of her favorites. She traveled all over, including visits to Europe, Jamaica, Ireland, and Sweden. She was a member of Wetumka First Baptist Church, and she loved meeting with her prayer group. Most of all, Lula loved her family.
Being one of nine children left Lula with a large family to cherish her memories.
Lula is preceded in death by her son, Eddie Key Powell; parents, Edgar Taylor Rogers, and Opal Chastain along with 5 siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Terry Powell; son, Brandon Hillyer; grandchildren, Karly and Jesse; great-grandchildren, Shyann, Alex, Jessa, Nova, and Isla; siblings, Berta, Vivian, and Linda, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
