Dr. Clarence Henry Horn
Dr. Clarence Henry Horn, 82, of Andover, Kansas, died July 8, 2024, surrounded by loving care and prayers of his wife, daughters, grandson and son-in-law.
Born in Emporia, Kansas, December 11, 1941, to Alberta Johnson Horn and Ira Horn Sr. He attended Emporia Middle School and High School (1960), and Emporia State University (1965); graduating with a BS in Education (Teaching field: Mathematics), and an MS in 1970. He completed a Structural Engineer Certification in 1967; Wichita State University Specialist in Education degree in 1975; and a PhD from the University of Minnesota in 1984.
Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ira Jr., Leroy, and Richard; and sisters, Geneva and Eloise.
Clarence married the love of his life and college sweetheart, Doretha James in 1964. He is survived by his wife of 60 years; three beautiful daughters born of that union, Monica (Steven), Sherri (Albert), and Sonya (Rick); six grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren; sisters, Lois and Wilma (Adrian) and brother, Jessie; many nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives and close friends.
His work was diligently performed with excellence: 2001-present as an H & R Block office leader/tax preparer and instructor. His varied educational experience included University Supervisor/ Instructors at Fort Hays State, Baker University, Western Governors University, Southwestern College, and Friends University. His service to Wichita Public, private, and parochial schools include: USD 259; Assistant Superintendent-Human Resources, 1997-2001, Executive Director of Human Resources, 1995-1997; Building Administrator, 1977-1995; District CurriculumConsultant, 1971-1977; and Math Teacher, 1965-1971. EDUCON was his own consulting business he founded, following recruitment for the district for many years.
He served as poll worker for Butler County Andover elections, volunteered at public schools, congressional Awards Committee; Phi Delta Kappa, State and National Educational Organization; his local church; other community organizations and events too numerous to list.

A visitation for Dr. Horn was held Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a celebration of life service on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 10:00 AM and a graveside immediately following, all at Resthaven Mortuary and Gardens of Memory, Garden of Christus, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
In lieu of flowers, school supplies are greatly appreciated in honor of Dr. Horns name during the visitation and service day. Memorials can be made in Dr. Horn’s name to Wichita Public Schools Foundation, 903 S. Edgemoor, Wichita, KS 67218, Attn: Nancy Iverson.

Thank you for continuing to pray for each of us as we love each other. Clarence is the son of the late Ira and Alberta Johnson Horn who have roots in Clearview. He is the nephew of the late Mary Ann Ballard of Clearview.
