City of Dustin Gets New Water Tower

A one hundredand ten-year-old icon came down recently in the town of Dustin. According to the Dustonian Newspaper dated February 15, 1912, the excavating began on the foundation of the old water tower that had graced the entrance to Dustin on Highway 84. Several other references over the years were made to water tower issues including painting and other issues and in February of 2021, a state of emergency was declared as the water pipe that was attached to the tower broke in the subzero weather. Water issues continued to plague the City of Dustin for the next year. Thanks to a grant from the Indian Health Service, bids were taken and in January of 2023 the work began on the new tower building the new tower section by section. On May 6, 2023, the top was officially added to the new tower. For several weeks both towers greeted visitors. But on June 1, 2023 the old tower came down and the horizon of Dustin boasts the new tower. This new tower was painted white and the word Dustin was added to the tower.
