Happy belated birthday to Johnny West last week. The community of Warrior is hosting a Black History Seminar on Saturday – March 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive Star Baptist Church sponsored by the Warrior School Restoration Organization. Washington High School in Tulsa, she went on to attain a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Bishop College in Marshall, Texas. In 1949, she began her teaching career in the Kansas City School District in Kansas. She married and in 1950 moved to Dallas where she applied for a job in the Dallas Independent School District. They denied her a position because she was not a Texan.
