Robert Jack Hammonds was called home on December 30th, 2022 surrounded by family at the age of 85, Bob was born in Allen on January 7th, 1937 to Jack and Mabel (Allen) Hammonds. Bob married Patricia Ann Hayes on July 1st, 1958. They were married for 64 wonderful years. Bob spent most of his time after he retired from truck driving making multiple trips to and from his garden. He loved watching basketball, eating sunday dinner with family, attending his home church, Atwood Baptist, and impatiently waiting on the next planting season. Bob served in the Oklahoma National Guard and U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Allen, Oklahoma and was a Deacon at Atwood Baptist Church.

Bonnie Sue Johnson passed away Monday, December 26th, 2022 at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 71.

In her letter she shared, “My twelve month old son failed the SPOT vision screening. I took him to an ophthalmologist who confirmed your find ings. He was diagnosed with congenital cataract causing amblyopia. His vision was 20/80 in the left eye; after three years of treatment, his vision is currently 20/20!I am so thankful and blessed for your service.” This child, along with thousands of other children who received exams and glasses as a result of a school vision screening, is doing better in school now. For this reason, Vizavance, formerly Prevent Blindness Oklahoma continues to work each year to help improve vision for the children of Oklahoma.
