The historic Okmulgee Colored Hospital has undergone amazing progress in recent years. Previously, the Oklahoma Heritage Preservation Grant Program in 2021 awarded “Landmark for all Generations, Inc.” to fund elements of a project aimed at increasing the marketing and visibility of this historic Okmulgee Black Hospital. Funding included monies for a logo and style guide creation, video production, and the development of a website to disseminate content that will help the public better understand this unique historic site. “Landmark for all Generations” is headed by Lemon Lewis of Okmulgee, Oklahoma who has made his life goal the restoration. Mr. Lewis is looking forward to sharing the story of Oklahoma’s first Black hospital and gaining support for its renovation.”
