Read moreDonnie and Shirley Nero are proud grandparents of Maki Blades who is attending Pittsburg State University on a track scholarship. The Nero’s traveled to Pitt to watch Makai participate in the first indoor Crimson and Gold Invitational on the Harvey Dean Track. Makai ran one of his best races, receiving first place in the 200-meter dash. He also placed in the top ten of the 60-meter and 4 x 4 relay. In all, 1,000 athletes participated the field and track events. While there, the Nero’s visited with Shirley’s high school basketball coach Harvey Dean whom the indoor track is named.

Read moreAnneca Anderson, daughter of Trilbya Stripling Anderson and Corey Anderson of Shawnee, Oklahoma, singed to play softball as a pitcher for Tulsa University on November 16th. Anneca is noted as being one of the best pitchers in the state and has received numerous offers from universities to play on their teams. She was All-State Softball and Reginal Player of the Year. Anneca is a senior at Shawnee High School and has attended the Shawnee area schools since kindergarten. In addition to softball, Anneca participates in baseball and track. Her grandfather, the late Jackie Stripling, was All-American baseball, track, and football making it to the minor leagues of the St. Louis Cardinals. He and her grandmother Marie would be very proud of their granddaughter. Anneca’s support team, including aunts and uncles and cousins, especially her mother Trilbya are very proud of Anneca and her future with Tulsa University.

Not only is Rayleigh a national champion in volleyball, but just signed to play women’s volleyball at Harvard University. Rayleigh is the daughter of Roslyn and Bruce Patterson and granddaughter of the later Ross Golden and great granddaughter of the late A. T. and Julia Golden of Clearview, Oklahoma.
