Elizabeth Jane Rose
Elizabeth Jane Rose was born October 3, 1971 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Bobby Dale Hensley and Billie Ruth (Cumbey) Hensley and passed from this life February 24, 2022 at the Hillcrest Medical Center in Henryetta at the age of 50.
Elizabeth was raised in Mounds, Oklahoma and attended the Mounds School. She was a graduate of Mounds High School. Following graduation, she attended Conners State College in Warner where she received an associate degree. She later attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri where she received a bachelor’s degree in Education and was certified to teach Special Education. She first worked at Cookson Hills Christian School near Tahlequah and later became a teacher at the Braggs School system. Most recently she taught Special Education at the Graham-Dustin School system, a position she dearly loved. While teaching there she married William Rose June 20, 2015 and they made their home in Wetumka.
She loved the life she chose which included her school, church, and Gospel music. She was always ready to volunteer for anything which involved any of these activities, especially Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She attended every Gospel concert she could. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wetumka. She was preceded in death
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Bill and Myrtle Cumbey, paternal grandparents Dorothy and Lee Reading, and an uncle, Robert Cumbey.
Survivors include: her husband Williams of the home; her parents Bobby and Billie Hensley of Mounds; a brother Bobby Hensley, Jr. and wife Denice of Oklahoma City; her mother-in-law Melba Langham of Chickasha; nieces Lauren Willingham and Megan Winter of Edmond; great nieces Lilly, Claire, and Aubrey; along with several other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 1, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Wetumka with Rev. Daniel Ingle, pastor, and Rev. Claude Butler officiating. Pallbearers were Jim Chaney, Martin Burnes, Darryl Rose, Darin Hebert, Bobby Hensley, Jr., and Glen Rose. Her students from Graham-Dustin School were honorary pallbearers. Interment was at 2:30 p.m. at the Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home of Wetumka.
