Michael Majors

Michael R. Majors passed away at his home in Holdenville on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the age of 69.

He was born in 1955 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Eugene andAudrie (Roberts) Majors, the youngest of four brothers. He is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Audrie Majors;

and two brothers David and Gary Majors.

Michael often said he lived an "enchanted life", born to loving parents who taught him and his brothers God’s love, a strong work ethic, respect and responsibility. Starting at a young age with his family, he farmed, ranched, worked the oilfield, hunted and fished. In his youth, Mike enjoyed the friendships and adventures Scouting offered and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Holdenville Schools through his junior year in high school. His senior year he was accepted to serve as a Page in Washington D.C. for Carl Albert the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. He attended classed with the other Pages from 7:00-11:00 a.m. before reporting to the Capital for Page duties from noon until whenever Congress adjourned for the day. Mike returned to Holdenville two weeks prior to graduation in 1973 to graduate with his former classmates (with Carl Albert the guest speaker for his 1973 commencement ceremonies!).

Following high school, he attended OSU studying Agriculture, Geology and Engineering. He was a avid reader, loved a challenge and was not afraid of a hard day’s work. He found he could work morning tower in nearby oilfields

and be back early enough for morning classes. Eventually, with a partner, he founded his own petroleum company and operated his beloved Lema Petroleum from 1980 until 2019 when his health forced him to retire.

Mike is survived by his Life Partner of the home, Lori Middleton; his brother John Majors and wife Cindy of Weleetka, Oklahoma. He had no children but lovingly cherished Lindsey Fechter, husband Cory and son Carter as his godchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins with a special note of gratitude to Mark and Betty Majors of Holdenville for their continuous support throughout his illness.

The family also wishes to thank the dedicated staff of Traditions Hospice for their endless support and compassionate care. The endless team of friends that stayed in touch with phone calls and visits were a priceless blessing.

Memorial Services will be held 1:30p.m., Friday, December 6th, at St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Holdenville.

In lieu of flowers, Mike would be honored with donations to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or to the charity/organization of your choice.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
