M.V. “Skip” Matthews
M. V. “Skip” Matthews, 93 of Pharoah, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, October 21st, 2021, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born July 7th, 1928 in Sharp, Oklahoma to Clyde C. Matthews and Flora (Little) Matthews.
He was a rancher for many years, was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Henryetta.
He married the love of his life, Thomasene “Tommie” Pharaoh on April 24, 1948 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma and the remained happily committed for 66 years until her death in 2015. From that union the couple was blessed with two remarkable children, Jim and Neketa whom he loved deeply. Skip was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many who will miss him deeply.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Tommie Matthews, a brother, Clyde Matthews, Jr., two sisters, Inola Mooneyham and Wilma Lambeth, also by an infant sister, Betty Jo Matthews.
He is survived by his son, Jim Matthews and wife Sue of Henryetta; His daughter, Neketa Landrum and husband Lanny of Jay; five grandchildren, Amy Norman and husband James of Jay; Jay Matthews and wife Tara of Henryetta; Tawny Wardrope and husband Bobby of Coalgate; Audra Tate and husband Thomas of Jay;
Nacole Gray and husband Dan of Colgate; eleven great grandchildren, Brittany Sabastian and husband Eric of Jay; Jaylyn Matthews of Henryetta; Bradley Sims and wife Danica of Henryetta; Taci Hamilton; Shelby Davidson of Joplin, Missouri; Gavin Tate of Jay; Braelynn Wardrope, Braxton Wardrope, Braedy Wardrope, Karlee Wardrope, and Holly Estep all of Coalgate; one great-great grandchild, Rynley Sims;
Viewing was held from 5-8pm Tuesday, October 26th at Integrity Funeral Service. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 27th at Integrity Chapel with Rev. Robert Adams officiating. Interment followed in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
