Tommie Troup
Tommie Troup was born in Yeager, Oklahoma on April 23rd, 1932, to Ben Thorton Massingale and Bennie Lou (Moore) Massingale. She was the youngest one of nine children. Her siblings were Urpal, Inez, Jaunita, Ambrie Lee, Bill, Mary, Jo Marie, and Bobby. She graduated from Yeager high school in 1951. She married B. Ray Troup, and she was the love of his life. They made their home at 800 South Gulf in Holdenville, Oklahoma. With this union, she become a mother to Mike, Mary, and Mark Troup along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tommie was known for her love of animals. There was always a puppy in her lap. She spent many hours driving around Holdenville in her golf cart, checking on all the animals.
For many years Ray and her attended the Wewoka Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Meredith Robinson, then at the end she went to Harvest Time in Holdenville. In later years when she became sick, she went to live with her daughter Mary Troup at Southern Living Assisted Living Home in Anchorage, Alaska, and then she transferred to her granddaughter’s Candis Martin’s Assisted Living Home in Eagle River and lived out her remaining years. She always had a smile and hug for Chad Martin, her son-in-law, who spent countless hours assisting her with her care. She was lucky enough to be able to visit with many of her grandsons, during her stay in Anchorage, Alaska. She was loved by all. Tommie is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Bennie Massingale, husband B. Ray Troup and siblings. She is survived by her children; Mike Troup and wife Sarah of Calvin, OK, Mary Troup of Anchorage, AK and Mark Troup and wife Joy of Monett, Missouri, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tommie is survived by many nieces, nephews, numerous other relatives and friends. The family would like to express their heartfelt Thank You to all the extraordinary, caring, and loving staff that took care of our mother during her stay at the Assisted Living Home. Pallbearers are Dylan Yockey, William Tarlton, Chad Martin, Travis Troup and Marcus Troup.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Hudson Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dane Robinson officiating.
Interment will follow at Holdenville Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hudson Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
