Billy Gene Muse
Billy Gene Muse of Holdenville, Oklahoma was born on May 29, 1929 in Leflore, Oklahoma to William Nolan Muse and Aladora Clementine (Clemmie) Meeks Muse. He passed away on September 22,1921 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 92.
He married the love of his life, Billie Loyce Hawthorne Muse on June 10, 1950. They were married for 71 years, 3 months, and 12 days. The first time he saw her at a Saturday night singing he said he was going to date that girl and marry her, and he did. Bill, also known as Daddy, Grandad, and Billy Gene was a member and deacon of the Faith Freewill Baptist Church for over 30 years. He was ordained in the First Free Will Baptist Church on February 15, 1976 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. He was Layman of the Year in 1980 through the National Layman’s board of the National Association of Free Will Baptists. He was one of the original deacons of the church. He helped with the restoration and building of the current building. Bill was a Sunday school teacher and served on many church committees. He loved his church and his church family. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company (ATT) from 1949 until 1984 when he retired with 35 years of service. He loved his family and made many fond memories with them. He loved to sing bass in the church choir. He enjoyed music. He picked his guitar and sang. Several family members remember one song he loved to sing, “Daddy sang bass, Mama sang Tenor” in his bass and tenor voice.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Weta Muse Womack and grandson, Ryan Coppedge. He is survived by his wife, Loyce Muse of the home, three daughters:

Williams and husband, Donnie, of Raymore, Missouri, Lanette Muse Coppedge and husband, Ronnie, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, six grandchildren; Amie Turner Johnson and husband, Darin of Holdenville, Oklahoma, Lance Williams and wife, Liz of San Diego, California, Jennifer Nicole Coppedge Rowe and Husband, Dustin of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, Chris Williams and wife, Kate of Lees Summitt, Missouri, Sandy Turner Teel and husband, Scott of Moore, Oklahoma, Mandy Dertinger and husband, Jeff of Belton, Missouri, seventeen great grandchildren; Price Rowe, Brittany Gonzales, Sydney Gonzales, Ted Williams, Madison Rowe, Kobe Johnson, Brent Teel, Kailyn Johnson, Jaxson Teel, Nathan Dertinger, Remmie Teel, Max Williams, Cooper Williams, Jack Williams, Judson Williams, Lincoln Williams, Lottie Kate Williams, two sisters; Fern Muse Duncan of Wilburton, Oklahoma, Margaret Muse Kirkendoll of Red, Oak, Oklahoma, two brothers; Glen Muse and wife Bunnie of Mustang, Oklahoma, Jim Muse of Las Vegas, New Mexico, sister-in-law June Hawthorne Sorrels of Blanchard, Oklahoma.

Visitation will be 4:00pm-7:00pm Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Hudson Phillips Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 on Thursday, September 30 at the Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Holdenville, Oklahoma with Brother Earl Scroggins officiating.
